Scientek Hospital and Laboratory Equipment

Our factory, located on the south side of Vancouver (Richmond,
BC) began as Terminal Sheet Metal, in 1913. The founders of
the company earned a strong reputation for building high quality
custom metal fixtures for many types of industries. They produced
hotel kitchens, ship's galleys, and hospital equipment, amongst
other things. In fact, one of our company's original owners,
Jack McDonnell, designed and built an early version of a steam-heated
autoclave in the late 1930's.
Our work in the hospital and research
field became more focused in the early 1980's with the introduction
of the Scientek brand name to the North American and European
markets. We continued to add to our product range throughout
the 1980's by building operating room fixtures such as scrub
sinks, warming cabinets, instrument cabinets, O.R. carts,
storage consoles, writing desks and pass through cabinets.
All of these items are built using the finest materials and
craftsmanship.
A significant increase in our product
range came in 1987 with the addition of our washer line. There
were some very interesting developments that brought us into
this field. Through a process of company acquisition and subsequent
factory shutdown, the very well respected "Better Built
" line of scientific washers, was lost to the research
& healthcare community. This was a great disappointment
to those who truly appreciated the excellent wash and dependable
performance that this equipment provided. Soon after this
occurred, Scientek began a program to build washers very much
in the "Better Built" style, but with improvements
and with component up-dates in mind. Many of these improvements
were the result of direct customer input.
Our company now offers a complete line
of washers and dryers for the processing of surgical instruments
and utensils, O. R. carts, and laboratory glassware. We also
build a series of cabinet washers, tunnel washers and rack
washers to thoroughly clean and sanitize animal cages and
water bottles in research facilities.
Our long history and continuing effort
to add to and improve on our product range makes us one of
the most well respected firms in our field. Scientek's reputation
is spreading throughout the world as a provider to leading
facilities in the healthcare and research industry.
